Since coming to United States, I have been fortunate enough to not experience any sort of racism myself. With that being said, just because I personally haven’t experienced it, doesn’t mean it is not a prevalent issue. It is impacting many people every day and it is important we all come together to discuss the current issues in hopes of finding long term solutions.

WHAT DOES “BLACK LIVES MATTER” MEAN TO ME?

To me, the Black Lives Matter movements means a lot because it has shed light on the issues of racial injustice and has sparked people’s attention on what has been going on in this country for generations.

WHAT CAN WE DO TO INSPIRE CHANGE?

I think ultimately it is going to take all of us to educate ourselves on the issue, but before we do that, we need to acknowledge that there is an issue. I believe in order for us to see a positive change in society, we must all first and foremost be open to change and be willing to change. Through education, and having conversations with those around us, we can hopefully ignite change.
