Cincinnati, OH – Saint Louis FC were blanked 2-0 against FC Cincinnati in front of 20,125 at Nippert Stadium in Week 14 of the USL Regular Season.
FC Cincinnati opened the scoring through an AJ Cochran own-goal in the 7th minute before sealing the win in the 66th minute with substitute Danni Konig's goal shortly after coming on. The win moves FC Cincinnati to 20 points and sixth place in the Eastern Conference, while Saint Louis FC remain outside the playoff spots in twelfth place with 15 points in the Eastern Conference.
The first half started with some fortune for FC Cincinnati in the 7th minute as Andrew Wiedeman was played behind the STLFC defense and his shot was turned into the net by Cochran. Saint Louis FC had a majority of the possession through the remainder of the first half but struggled to supply the forwards and create chances. FC Cincinnati had another great chance before halftime as Jimmy McLaughlin was played through but smacked his shot against the post in the 44th minute.
The second half started with head coach Preki making two substitutions to hopefully kick-start the Saint Louis FC offense. However, it would be a substitution from FC Cincinnati that would make the difference as Konig came into the game in the 64th minute and scored two minutes later to double the home side's advantage. The game would end without many chances for Saint Louis FC as the team only registered three shots on target. They continue on the road to face New York Red Bulls II away on July 1st before returning home to play the rescheduled match against Rochester Rhinos on July 5th.
