St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis FC fell 2-1 at home to Bethlehem Steel FC on Sunday, June 11th in Week 12 of the USL season. The result moves Bethlehem up to sixth while Saint Louis FC sits in eleventh place in the Eastern Conference.
Saint Louis FC continued their streak of scoring early at home thanks to an own goal from Bethlehem’s Ken Tribbett in the 3rd minute. Bethlehem would then equalize after Seku Conneh’s goal in the 56th minute before taking the lead through James Chambers in 74th minute to steal all three points.
The first half started well for Saint Louis FC who controlled possession throughout. In the 3rd minute, a goal-mouth scramble following a free kick resulted in Tribbett turning the ball into his own net after the ball was played by Tyler David. Saint Louis FC had a number of opportunities throughout the remainder of the half but could not find the goal to double their advantage.
The second half saw Bethlehem grow into the game and they almost equalized with a shot off the crossbar in the 51st minute. They would eventually find the goal in the 56th minute as another scramble in the box saw Conneh score his seventh goal of the season. Bethlehem would take the lead in the 74th minute as team captain Chambers rifled in a shot from outside the box for his second goal of the season. Some late efforts from Saint Louis FC were not enough to turn the tide and the game would finish 2-1 as Bethlehem earned their second road win of the year.
