ST. LOUIS, MO – The United Soccer League announced that the Saint Louis FC Academy U16 team will be competing in the 2018 Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup event for the first time in club history.
The Dallas Cup is one of the oldest and most prestigious international youth competitions in the United States which invites the best teams from hundreds of applicants every year. The competition is made up of seven age groups from U13-U19 level and attracts top teams from around the world. Alumni from the tournament include David Beckham, Wayne Rooney, Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernandez, Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan.
The 39th edition of the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup will take place in Frisco, Texas as USL Academy teams will enter the event for the first time this upcoming spring. The other USL Academy teams invited to participate include: OKC Energy FC, Charleston Battery, Orange County SC, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Rio Grande Valley FC, and San Antonio FC.

Offering opportunities such as this on an annual basis provides crucial experience and important reference points for young, aspiring players as they compete to reach the professional ranks with their hometown USL clubs in the future.
