ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC will face Duluth FC of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) in Round 2 of the U.S. Open Cup tonight, May 16th at 7:00 p.m. CT away at Public Schools Stadium.
Duluth FC was founded in 2015 and joined the NPSL in 2017, a debut season which saw them crowned NPSL Midwest Region’s North Conference Champions. This year marks the debut of Duluth FC in the U.S. Open Cup and they defeated Dakota Fusion (NPSL) in a penalty shoot-out after a 4-4 thriller in Round 1 on May 9th. They recently drew 3-3 against Minnesota Twinstars FC in their NPSL season opener on May 12th with Kyle Farrar, Ivan Adika, and Dana Kowachek registering the goals.
Saint Louis FC has competed in the U.S. Open Cup every season since its inception in 2015, a run which culminated with a Round 4 loss away to Sporting Kansas City of Major League Soccer. Last season, the Chicago Fire defeated Saint Louis FC 1-0 in the Round 4 match in front of 5,786 fans at Toyota Stadium at the World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
The winner of tonight’s Duluth FC-Saint Louis FC game will face the winner of Louisville City FC (USL)-Long Island Rough Riders (PDL) in Round 3 next Wednesday, May 23rd with kickoff time and location TBD based on Round 2 results.
